Hendrick BMW Northlake, serving Charlotte, NC, is proud to share that BMW is spreading its automotive arm across new markets. Specifically, the automaker has announced plans to invest a total of $261 million to build a new factory in Brazil.

Why Brazil? you might inquire. For starters, the region's auto market is rapidly growing, proving adequate stomping grounds for global brands looking to expand. What's more, Brazil is looking towards an immediate future of economic growth as both the World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games will be hosted by the country within the next four years.

Set to be located in southern Brazil, the forthcoming BMW plant will churn out as many as 30,000 vehicles per year. And that's only a start.

Ian Robertson, BMW Head of Sales and Marketing, explains, "The investment plan has been aligned with new automobile industry incentives and is the result of difficult work with Brazilian authorities during the last six months. The goal is to reach 30,000 cars and to keep growing. If there is more demand, then there will be more production."1

Company officials plan to roll out the new overseas production line by 2014 and are eager to facilitate the creation of over 1,000 new jobs.
