The BMW M Series is known for offering drivers a remarkable performance along with great style and innovation. Now BMW is looking to expand these options even further by potentially offering all-wheel drive as an option. This would break the mold of having sporty cars exclusively available with rear-wheel drive and it would also make the M range more versatile.
By adding all-wheel drive, the BMW M Series would be more suitable to colder climates where the weather can be quite unpredictable. Not only would these vehicles be able to tackle harsh elements, but they would also broaden the brand's range of potential customers. This addition would help BMW to become a stronger competitor to other luxury brands as well.
As BMW plans to roll out the redesigned versions of both the M5 and M6 models sometime during 2016-2017, it will most likely use this opportunity to introduce all-wheel drive to the M range. This is of course assuming the automaker decides to go through with its plan.
